This is one of the ‘berry best’ stories ever! Rudolph Boysen, a german immigrant, had a small berry farm in California where in the early 1900’s he experimented with cross-pollinating different berries to create new varieties. His most delicious creation was this berry which was ‘discovered’ by Walter Knott of Knott’s Berry Farm fame. We’re not sure whether the Boysenberry made Knott’s Berry Farm famous, or Knott’s made the Boysenberry famous, but we’re happy the outcome. A deep, rich, delicious, not-too-sweet jam that is the favorite of many berry jam lovers. Maybe it should be your new favorite too?
